Hello, Writers!
The heat is on here in Space City. I hope everyone is taking good care of themselves and staying as cool and hydrated as possible.
One reminder about the Anthology theme -- Space. A theme of Space does not necessarily imply sci-fi or outer space, it is any iteration of the word. Need inspiration? See the poem created by Becky Ellisor which can be found on the Anthology page.
The deadline for submitting to the Anthology has moved from August 1st to August 30th. We must hold to that deadline if we're going to be able to publish in time for the end of year holidays.
“I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.” — Douglas Adams
I'm sad to report that one of our monthly columnists, Lynne Streeter, has given notice that August will be her last Tips of the Trade column. We are hoping she'll continue to submit other content, perhaps a poem or Feature, but no matter what we are deeply thankful for her contributions over the last few years.
If you're uniquely suited to share your expertise on a monthly basis, please contact us to discuss. Just one example might be someone who is making income (however great or small) on their writing as a serial writer for Vella, or contributor to Substack, or Medium or some other platform. Another would be, perhaps you're an educator in English and could share some monthly grammar tips. Thank you for considering.
We are getting closer to resuming in-person meetings. It will be a great opportunity for us to gather and talk about our shared passion of writing and reading. Stay tuned!
And remember...
“If I waited for perfection, I would never write a word.” — Margaret Atwood
