    About BAWL Write-In Events

Our 2025 Write-in events are a set time to write with other writers; Every Monday and Wednesday morning plus the 3rd Saturday of each month.

A write-in can break writer's block, build confidence, inspire that creature in your brain that has to write and has fallen out of the habit, help you share your thoughts with people who have been there, or a write-in will call out your muse if she is hidden or lost. Write-ins can help stalled writers.

This is why Write-ins have been a part of the Bay Area Writers League for many years. It keeps you trying, even if it is the only time you write. Life often gets in the way of creativity, no matter the field you want to work in. Visual artists often paint or draw together: to learn from each other and be inspired to continue practicing their craft. At a write-in, writers do the same.

This is an online meeting. Once you register you'll receive a Zoom link in a conformation email. Simply click that link to join the meeting.

Our Write-ins start with a prompt. Participants write for about an hour and then read what they have written. It's a great way to get your creative juices flowing and start your day. You can also write about a project you are working on and use or not use the prompt; it's your choice.

Our method instills a sense of commitment to writing, providing a gentle push to get started. We value camaraderie and foster a welcoming environment where participants are not obligated to share their work. While there are no strict rules, we kindly steer clear of political discussions to maintain a friendly ambiance.
Join us on Monday and Wednesday Mornings at 9:30 a.m.

After three attendances, we require membership in the Houston Bay Area Writers League. It's only $30 a year. (We can help if you need it. Just ask.)
