It's almost the Summer Solstice, Midsummer! What dreams do you have for Summer 2023?
The yearly service BAWL offers, the Anthology, is well underway. I just submitted my intention - mostly to test the payment method to ensure it's working okay and it is. Deadline to have your piece ready to submit is August 1st so don't procrastinate since that's less than 2 months away. We need at least 12 authors and at least 200 pages of content else it looks more like a pamphlet than a book and we don't want that, right? It's free editing so that's also a great way to get your story, poem, whatever, into good shape. If, by the next newsletter time, we don't have a fair amount of entrants we may have to put the effort on alert to cancel. Please, let's not do that. We're a group of writers, let's write!

In-Person Meetings - We have two potential locations now we just need the participation. You are welcomed to voice your opinions in the forum as to what you would want with regard to in-person meetings. Anyone want a few dedicated toward creating your SPACE theme item for the Anthology? How about the monthly group meeting? Topics you'd like to meet about?
The Write-in login is working again. If you had trouble in the last week or two, rest assured that it works now. If you want to check out one of our write-ins, click Events at the very top of the page on the website and register. You will receive the login via email. Click on that login a few minutes before the meeting starts, and you will enter the session. You may register for three write-ins before you are officially a member.
Although sadly I have been mostly absent from them lately, we continue
to have our write-ins twice a week as well as the first Thursday of
each month, in the evening, and the third Saturday, in the afternoon. No
judgement. Just encouragement. All are welcome, and feel free to bring a
friend.

L. Russell Records, a write-in regular, has a new book (as of April 2023) on Amazon. Check out the news about Dark Angel. Records is on a mission to complete a novel every six months for the next two years. Ambitious goal. And enjoyable reading for us!
Lynne Streeter had a poem selected for Poets Picnic at the Open Air Alliance Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. A lovely haiku piece. Who doesn't love Haiku?! Read more in her monthly Tips of the Trade column. Members can find it in the For Members Only section of the website or linked below.
The competition to name
Becky's serial has ended. I think it has been determined that the name
will come at the end. Too bad because there was a free yearly membership
prize. Perhaps at the end the competition will run again. Meanwhile,
we're up to episode 32 of this sci-fi thriller. Members can find it in

June Feature - This month I was exploring what other groups were doing with events and anthologies and came across some non-BAWL events that are for writers in the local area. Some summer fun, hmmm?
