Bay Area Writers League 2024-25 Election

Last month, we scheduled our first monthly meeting in person since Covid arrived on the scene. The weather kept that from happening. But this month's scheduled meeting will go on as planned.

Finding a venue at a good time and place has been challenging, and we still need some help in that area. We are persevering on that problem also.

What we need is volunteers to step up and carry BAWL forward. We need club officers and board members to lead us into a great future.

Therefore, we will hold our Officer Election in April. Currently, Only Carol Peña, Vice President, and Becky Ellisor, Treasurer, are still active BAWL Officers. We have held these positions throughout the Covid Nightmare. But it is time now for new blood.

So, our Election will contain the following open positions for the year May 2024 through April 2025. The approximate time commitment for each position varies, but plan on about ten hours per month. It varies by month and position somewhat.

President - duties include leadership at the monthly meetings, organizing committees, overseeing projects, etc.

Vice-President - Aids and backs up the President and replaces the President when ill or requested.

Secretary - Keeps meeting minutes and presents them at meetings, and volunteers aid on projects

Treasurer - Responsibility for the bank account, paying bills, reporting to the Club quarterly

In the past, we have always held the Election in April at the monthly meeting. You must be a current paid member to vote in the Election. We can allow votes to be cast the night of the meeting by attendance via Zoom. But we need someone to volunteer to aid in the set-up of Zoom at the meeting for this to happen.

Several hundred writers have come through this club during its 37 years. We have held several two- and three-day conferences and many workshops and meetings. Help us continue this tradition of helping our fellow writers.
