Marriage

The idea of you and me

How it sits in my heart 

and waits to jump out 

and be real.

 

Is this a possibility 

or just a pipe dream?

Can it be one of love, honesty, and trust?

Could it be like our days of youth 

when responsibility was just an idea 

not a reality. 

Something that happens sometimes. 

The idea of bills, kids, and mortgages

 was just a distant thought.  

Now this idea 

of you and me 

has become 

–a whole new thing.
