Volunteer

by Becky Ellisor

The Bay Area Writers League has depended on Volunteers for thirty-eight years now. It would not exist without the volunteer work of many people through all those years.

Volunteering is good for the soul of the volunteer and other members, whether new to the organization or long-time members.

As a long-time member, I can attest to the value of this club. I am a much better writer than I would have been without the club, and I suspect I would have quit or given up writing long ago without the encouragement from other writers and club members.

Even us loner types need other people’s input sometimes, and everyone needs encouragement whatever endeavor they are attempting.

Not everyone is at a point in their life where they can volunteer, but that’s ok, too.

Attending and being a part of the club is also important for you and other members.

Do you have ideas about what else the club can do for you or other writers? Let us know what kind of help you need. If you run across a writer,  editor, or publisher that you think would like to speak at a meeting, then tell us and let us know how to contact them.

Lots of writers need beta readers. Perhaps, that may interest you. Every little bit helps. Plus, we always look for things to post on BAWLs substack — fiction, nonfiction, short stories, poetry essays, etc.
