Hello, Writers!
The heat is on, and what better time to stay inside and write and read.
Reading is such an important aspect of writing. I was considering creating a forum thread for y'all to share what you're reading, but I wonder if a regular online meetup would be more fun. If you'd be interested in participating in a BAWL Book Club meetup please contact me and we can all agree on a time that works for us to do that via Zoom.
The value of reading for writers is the subject of the June newsletter feature.
My thanks to all of you who are renewing your memberships to Bay Area Writers League. My own membership renewal is due this month, this is my third year. I'm a newbie here, but this membership has been of enormous value to me, to my writing, and my editing. I'm hoping all members are experiencing value in their membership. Contact me if you want to share your story about why you're here. A new Member's section showcasing your story could be a fun addition to the website.
As a reminder, coming up tomorrow, May 15 (the third Saturday of the month) we have Julie Pitzel hosting the Saturday write-in from 3pm to 5pm. For your convenience here is the zoom meeting link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87293345121?pwd=RGFxVjA4Mkd2Z0FCY2J6b09EUSswdz09 . You can also RSVP for the event here and you will receive the Zoom link in the confirmation email. Becky is still leading the Monday and Wednesday morning write-ins at 9:30 am. Register using the events tab across the top of the website to receive the login. It's the same as the Saturday one, too. In case you decide to attend at the last minute.
The in-person speaker event this month should be a very good one - check out the Event for June. Queuing up for July 24th is Terry Fischer who will talk about how to write a mystery and other writer's craft elements. If you have suggestions to assist Debi in engaging speakers, please contact Debi Fairchild directly.
We heard from one person that offered to help with the 2024 Anthology, and as valuable as that offer is, we're really looking for someone to take ownership of project. So, again, if there is anyone among you who would like to lead this rewarding experience please speak up, or we'll try again next year.
Here's hoping that the words flow out of your fingers, into your keyboard (or pen), and out into the universe with much happiness and satisfaction,
- Kelley
