Event details
Elizabeth Dettling Moreno will speak at the Freeman Library on Wednesday, June 26, for the In-Person Speaker Series from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. She will discuss the book signings she does at Krogers and self-publishing.
One of our own, Maxie Baldwin, had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Moreno at Krogers and was deeply moved by her story. Recognizing the potential, Maxie suggested that Ms. Moreno could be one of our speakers. After an email from Debbie Fairchild, Ms. Moreno graciously agreed to share her experiences at the speaker series.
Ms. Moreno is a wife, mother of five, grandmother of sixteen, and great-grandmother of nine. She lived for many years in Wharton, TX, where she spent the last twenty-two years raising flocks of various fowl.
Her literary journey is as diverse as her life experiences. She has authored children's books like Sancho the Silly Billy Goat, The Return of Sancho, and The Not So Silly Billy Goat. Her creative perspective is also evident in her three animal-themed coloring books. In 2013, she lent her ghostwriting skills to help a Holocaust survivor, Helen Colin, pen her autobiography, My Dream of Freedom, from Holocaust to My Beloved America. She also wrote and published Psalms of Motherhood and other Reflections on life after her first husband deserted her and four of her children. Her unique and inspiring works are sure to captivate us all.
